Site Analysis
Each site presents new and variable conditions that affect the growing environment of plants, the placement of new plants, structures, or pathways. The beginning of the design process requires a careful assessment of all conditions on your site.

Documentation
Research of the exact plot plan may include a trip to the town hall for records of septic layout, a recent addition, or the original lot layout. In some cases a new survey may be needed. The design begins after locating known structures and boundaries and drafting a plan of existing conditions.

Conceptual Design
Ideas and sketches may pass back and forth several times until the client is satisfied with the design concept. This process allows the client to participate and visualize the changes and additions that encompass the design.

Working Plans
After the concept is approved, final working drawings and plans are needed for the construction and installation of the design. This allows implementation by profession landscape services.

Plant Lists
Selections of appropriate plant materials create the pallet for completed design. Environmental conditions affect this pallet, but it this selection that fills the bones of the basic design.

Photographic Documentation
I use the camera as a design tool but, along the way, the evolving beauty of the site often distracts me. I often create a portfolio of pictures to record your site as a portrait. I also produce high quality photographs of natural subjects in the landscape.

Presentation Models
Another tool for the presentation of a design is to create a scaled model of the site. In some situations, this is the best way to present the design, allowing a three-dimensional view over the site.

Rendered Drawings
Perspective drawings, colored sketches and computer modeling are other ways to present a design. I treat these pieces as artistic renderings, taking care to make them attractive and readable.
